I am 31 years old and a lover of anime and manga, as well as an avid reader. Throughout much of my life, I have avoided being in pictures because I often feel self-conscious. I never knew how to take a picture without making a goofy face or striking a dorky pose, but I’ve always wished I could be someone who effortlessly strikes the perfect pose and looks stunning and confident.
Leading Up To Your Shoot
A few years ago, I learned about boudoir photography from a friend who had done a boudoir shoot. I immediately became enamored with the idea; I wanted to embrace the sexy, confident woman I knew was within me, but I didn’t know how to let her out. When I came across Ayla Quellhorst Photography on Instagram, I thought, “Why not? The worst that can happen is it won’t work out, but I won’t know unless I try!”
The team was wonderful; they were kind and informative throughout the entire process, answering questions before I could think of them. I brought my outfits, and it was a lot of fun shopping for and trying on various types and styles of lingerie before I fell in love with the pieces I chose. Although I was initially nervous about being photographed in very little clothing especially being more on the awkward side, I felt completely at ease with this fantastic team of people.
Your Shoot!
The day of the shoot was a blur. I came in from a few hours away, waking up at the crack of dawn with coffee in hand I headed down to the studio. It was worth every second of the drive, and I wouldn’t change a thing. Jessica did a beautiful job with my hair and makeup, while Alya was incredibly patient and kind in helping me with poses. Not to mention, her jokes had me laughing most of the time. It’s hard to pick which part would be my favorite part because I loved every second of this experience.
I was initially nervous about being photographed in very little clothing, but those worries quickly faded, and I ended up having so much fun. When I saw my photos, I was simply stunned. I thought, “Holy… is that really me?!” I loved every single photo and was in awe of the seductive, sexy side of myself that had been captured on film.
During and after the photoshoot, I felt confident—like, hey, the hot person I see in the mirror isn’t just a figment of my imagination; she really does exist. I just needed a little help to bring her out!
The Nitty-Gritty
If given the chance to give advice to another woman or man thinking about doing a boudoir session I would say, “Go for it!” It can be nerve-wracking to try something new, but that’s how we grow. Although it may be uncomfortable, we need to spread our wings (metaphorically, of course) and fly to where we need to go in order to become our best selves and embody our own version of ‘Her.’
Preparing for the big day I personally ordered so many different styles and colors of spicy outfits from different websites. I ventured out of my comfort zone daring to try something that you know maybe I wasn’t sure would look the best on me but wow I found so many new things I felt stunning in and it was such a fun experience. I would 100% do it again in a heartbeat.
I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful it was to work with Ayla and her team. They create a welcoming atmosphere and truly are the best hype team you could ask for. I left on Cloud 9 and have been recommending them to anyone considering a boudoir experience.
Review
Everyone on the team is amazing, hair/makeup, the photographers, the review they really have a way to make you feel stunning and comfortable bringing out that inner goddess. I cannot recommend them enough.
