Mr. J – A boudoir photography session in St. Louis just for him.

"Not only did I feel like I could accept myself but I got to let my alter ego out as well and words can't really describe it."

Well I’m 27 with a fine arts degree and I have a job doing maintenance work on machine lathes. Outside of that I like to take trips to parks with my dog Hope and I enjoy spontaneous adventures with my friends.

The thing about it is what got me to want to try boudoir is it started with a breakup and talking to people about myself. One friend of mine talked with me about my self esteem and she struggled with the same problem. She is not shy about being in front of a camera and she told me to try boudoir since she started with it. It took me a couple of weeks to contemplate it because I knew nothing about it really except from the pictures I’ve seen of her doing a shoot. I figured I’d Google search shoots and Aylaquelllhorstphotography was near the top. I read what it was about and I built up the courage to reach out. I never felt confident about my body but I knew I needed to change that.

I reached out online and shortly after I got a call and we talked about the shoot in general and what I expected from it. Honestly I still had no idea but I felt the need to get out of my comfort zone and just try something. Being on the phone I was nervous and even in person I was just nervous because I never felt vulnerable in front of strangers. I didn’t think to highly of my own body either so that didn’t help but there were really no comments about it that were negative. The fact that I did a shoot was one thing. It’s a whole other thing when I open up a secret side of myself to complete strangers and had total support over it. Not only did I feel like I could accept myself but I got to let my alter ego out as well and words can’t really describe it. A male and female shoot of the same person really got me experiencing two sides of myself and it just felt really, like letting out a caged parts.

Any advice I would give anyone who is considering doing boudoir is to do it! Get yourself a person to hype up your image, gives you the courage to reach out and just do it! A lot of people I learned do a shoot like this for the same reasons and I didn’t feel any judgement from Ayla and the team at all! Just excitement and laughs!

For the first time being in front of the camera I can honestly say this team takes excellent care of you and takes into consideration that about how you feel. They could tell I was nervous but they will walk you through the process and make sure you aren’t left hanging. Like there no awkward moments and the are respectful and supportive in you trusting them. I would recommend this team to anyone who considers doing this shoot.
